General, searchable databases that contain data
on multiple variables from which datasets can be compiled by
country/year/variable. Searchable databases that only contain certain types
of variables, e.g. on education or health, are listed here and under their
respective topic.
GENERAL DATABASES:
World Economic Outlook Database (IMF)
Selected
macroeconomic data on
national accounts, inflation, unemployment
rates, balance of payments, fiscal
indicators, trade, and
commodity prices.
Data
available from 1980, and
projections are given for the next two years.
United Nations Common Database
(UN)
Selected data series from numerous
specialised international data sources for all countries
Penn World Table 6.2 (University of Pennsylvania)
Purchasing power parity and national income
accounts (basic macroeconomic data) converted to international prices for
188 countries for 1950-2004
80 samples of census microdata from 26
countries containing records for 202 million individuals. Researchers
can apply for customs extracts from the international IPUMS.
